COLUMBUS, Ohio— Ohio State overwhelmed Rutgers 42-9 on Senior Day at Ohio Stadium, relying on its ground game and stifling defense to compensate for the absence of injured wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.
The Buckeyes controlled the game from start to finish before a crowd of 100,023, holding Rutgers to just 70 total yards through three quarters while racking up 304 yards themselves.
Running back Bo Jackson led the offensive effort with two touchdown runs of 15 and 10 yards, finishing the day with 110 yards on 19 carries.
C.J. Donaldson added a 5-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter after a video review confirmed the score, and James Peoples chipped in a 49-yard touchdown run to put an exclamation point on the blowout victory.
