YPSILANTI – Cole Novara knew he was in store for a big year – he just didn’t know it would rewrite the Michigan high school football history books.
When the Dexter senior receiver talked with coaches about what he wanted to accomplish this season, he could have never foreseen he would produce the single best season for a high school receiver of all-time.
Novara shattered multiple MHSAA single season receiving records on his way to helping lead the Dreadnaughts to a 41-6 win over Birmingham Groves in Saturday’s Division 2 state semifinal game.
“I didn’t think it was going to be this big.” Novara said of his season. “I knew I was going to have a big year, and I knew this offense would be scoring a bunch of points, but I did not realize that it was going to be this crazy of a year for us.”
