HAMILTON – The No. 24 Brownwood Lady Lions overcame their first loss of the season to begin the Hamilton Hoopfest and went on the capture the tournament championship with a 44-32 victory over Comanche Saturday afternoon.
Tied at 8 after one quarter, the Lady Lions (6-1) led just 23-21 at halftime, but opened a 36-25 advantage heading into the fourth period.
Brownwood converted 38 percent (14 of 37) of its field goals, 33 percent (4 of 12) of its three-pointers and 57 percent (12 of 21) of its free throws, while also forcing 12 steals and pulling down 18 rebounds.
Icess Hall scored a team-high 13 points for the Lady Lions followed by 10 each from Hannah Deen and Trinity Roberts, six from Jade Morin, three from Jentry Coalson, and two points from Demayha Hooker.
