BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A local collaboration returned to Bangor Saturday to give extra aid for man’s best friend.

The annual pet food drive for the Furry Friends Food Bank program was held by the Bangor Police Department, taking place outside Shaw’s on Main Street.

The program is one of many operated by the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, aiming to collect donated pet food and products for senior citizens. The fundraiser also accepted cash donations directly.

The collaborative effort first got its start in 2013, helping to assist older individuals when it becomes more difficult to provide for pets.
