LINN COUNTY, Iowa - A crash in rural Palo Saturday left one person with serious injuries.

The LInn County Sheriff's Office says first responders were sent to a single-vehicle accident on Covington Road and Chain Bridge Road at about 4 pm. A silver Kia Rio was found upside down in the east ditch with one person trapped inside.

Investigators say the Rio was going north when it failed to make a curve on Covington Road, lost control, and rolled several times.

The driver, Derek Waite, 35 of Marion, was taken to University of Iowa Hospital by Lifeguard Air Ambulance for treatment of serious injuries. The passenger, Aubrey Floyd, 42 of Cedar Rapids, refused medical treatment at the scene.

This accident is under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol, Palo Fire Department, and Hiawatha Ambulance
