Train service was interrupted and a major roadway was closed after a Metra train struck a vehicle in Arlington Heights.
According to officials, a Metra UP-Northwest train struck a vehicle on Saturday evening just after 6:30 p.m.
A passenger onboard the train was taken to an area hospital, the agency said, but no further information was available on other injuries related to the collision.
As of 9 p.m., all trains were halted on both the inbound and outbound sides of the UP-Northwest line.
Train No. 725 will not operate past Cumberland due to the collision, and train No. 732 will not operate between Harvard and Mount Prospect, Metra officials said.
Arlington Heights Road was closed at Northwest Highway in both directions because of the crash, Arlington Heights police said.
