The New York Giants (2-9) and the Detroit Lions (6-4) meet Sunday in Week 12 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's NFL odds around the Giants vs. Lions odds and make our expert NFL picks and predictions for the best bets.
The Giants’ struggles continued in Week 11 with a fifth consecutive loss, falling 27-20 to the Green Bay Packers. New York did manage to cover as 7.5-point home underdogs as the Over (42.5) cashed. In his first start of the season, QB Jameis Winston passed for 201 yards and 1 interception, but also punched one in at the goal line. RB Tyrone Tracy chipped in 88 rushing yards in the defeat.
Detroit came up short in Week 11, dropping a 16-9 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a game where the offense never found its rhythm. The Lions failed to cover as 2.5-point underdogs as the Under (46.5) hit. QB Jared Goff struggled, completing just 14 of 37 passes with 1 TD and 1 INT, while RB Jahmyr Gibbs carried the load with 146 of the team’s 317 total yards.

Giants at Lions picks and predictions
Prediction
Lions 38, Giants 20
Moneyline
PASS.
It is really hard to slow down or keep up with the Lions on their home field. Detroit (-900) will win this game going away which is why I'll take my wager to the spread.
Against the spread
BET LIONS -13 (-110).
The loss to Philadelphia was rough, no doubt, but that was more of an anomaly than a trend. This offense doesn’t stay quiet for long, especially when it gets back home into the controlled environment of Ford Field.
The way I see it, Detroit’s strengths line up perfectly with what New York struggles against. The Giants have had major issues stopping the run, and that’s exactly where the Lions want to start. Gibbs and David Montgomery should be able to control the flow of this game, chew up clock, and keep the chains moving. Once that gets going, Goff will have way more comfort in the pocket and the passing game should naturally open up.
On the other side, I just don’t trust the Giants to keep pace. With Winston under center, this offense hasn’t been steady enough to scare me. They’ve lost 5 straight and still feel like a team trying to patch things together rather than build momentum.
Detroit’s defense also has the edge here. They’re aggressive, they get after quarterbacks, and they’re great at turning pressure into mistakes — something Winston has been prone to throughout his career.
This feels like one of those games where Detroit gets up early, forces New York to chase, and that’s when it starts snowballing.
Over/Under
BET OVER 50.5 (-110).
Detroit usually bounces back in a big way after a dud, and I don’t see the Giants slowing them down, especially on the ground. This Lions offense is built to put points up once it gets rolling. On the flip side, New York should still scrape together enough scoring to help push this total. The Over has cashed in 5 of the Giants last 6, while the Lions have in 2 of 3. Neither defense is elite, allowing more than 21 points per game, I’m taking my chances on points piling up.
