AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s is investigating a hit and run on Oak Street.

According to deputies, the accident happened Saturday at 4:31 p.m. on the 400 block of Oak Steet.

When deputies got to the scene they learned a child was struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle then failed to stop and fled the scene, officials say.

The child was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, investigators say.

The investigation is ongoing.
