GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — On November 21, Minneapolis and the world lost a music legend.
Garry George “Jellybean” Johnson died two days after his 69th birthday.
“He was just a precious, kind soul,” said Johnson’s daughter Bianca Rhodes. “A beautiful, beautiful vessel for God, truly, a beautiful, a beautiful vessel.”
Rhodes remembers staying up late to watch her dad on Saturday Night Live as a kid, getting mad together at Timberwolves games, and attending different music appearances with him when she got older.
“That part has always been fun, but the other part is the man that not everybody knows the introvert. People don’t understand my father taught himself to be an extrovert, but he’s really an introvert,” Rhodes said.
Johnson was a famous musician, but to her, he’ll always be dad.
