GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Green Bay women’s basketball team improved to 5-1 with a 47-44 win over Kansas State on Saturday.
The Phoenix held the Wildcats, who advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last year, to just 31% shooting from the field and 9% from 3-point range and forced 16 turnovers.
“It’s time for us coaches to develop that trust in our defense,” head coach Kayla Karius said. “Today we took that up another level. Our defense is really strong. Clearly, you hold that team to 44 points, we’re proving that we can be a really great defensive team.”
Green Bay bounced back in a big way following a 76-72 loss to Wisconsin last week.
