Stand-in India Test captain Rishabh Pant was visibly unhappy with his bowlers, particularly Kuldeep Yadav, and let the wristspinner know it during the first session on day two of the second Test against South Africa in Guwahati. Pant reminded Kuldeep that he had already been warned twice for breaching the 60-second rule and urged him to speed up between overs.
Under ICC playing conditions, the fielding side must begin a new over within 60 seconds of the previous one finishing. Umpires issue two warnings for infringements; a third breach results in a five-run penalty. These warnings reset after 80 overs. The regulation was introduced to tackle Test cricket’s long-standing problem of slow over rates.
