Lonavala, 23 November 2025: Traffic on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway came to a standstill on Sunday after an oil tanker overturned near Lonavala, leading to a long jam that stretched nearly five to six kilometres.
The accident caused major delays for motorists heading toward Pune. Vehicles crawled bumper to bumper for more than an hour as the flow of traffic slowed sharply in the affected section.
Police teams and highway authorities reached the spot quickly, cordoning off the area and starting clearance work. Recovery efforts are still underway.
Commuters have been asked to drive carefully near the accident point. Authorities have also advised travellers to consider alternate routes until the road is fully cleared and traffic normalises.
