A killer driver who fled the UK and taunted both police and his victim’s family while on the run has been jailed for more than 15 years. ‌

Euan Corbett spent three years travelling through Europe and Asia after causing the death of his friend Shane Finn in a high-speed crash on the North York Moors in May 2020. Instead of calling an ambulance as Mr Finn fought for his life, Corbett set about trying to evade responsibility – a decision that left the grieving family waiting years for justice. ‌

While abroad, Corbett repeatedly mocked the investigation. In 2023 he posted a video on Facebook telling Interpol to “put this in your pipe and smoke it” before adding: “You had your chance, now I’m gone.” ‌
