Happy Thanksgiving!
Most of us golden oldies remember singing “Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother’s House we go” as we gathered with relatives for Thanksgiving each year. The words are familiar to millions and were originally published in Flowers for Children, Vol. 2 in 1844. Perhaps some will recall the author, Lydia Marie Child, as being one of the earliest American women to earn a living from her writings. She was known as the writer of one of the most popular domestic advice books of her time, The American Frugal Housewife.
