Towns across the county are getting ready for the festive season. And, in a bid to encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the festivities this month and next, some local councils have already announced parking will be free on specific dates.

This comes as a range of Christmas lights events will take place starting with Deal on Saturday (November 22). This will be followed by Sandwich on November 29, and Dover on December 6.

Dover District Council (DDC) said free parking in its car parks will be available between 3pm and 6pm on those dates. A spokesperson said: "The vehicle will need to leave prior to charging recommencing in the car parks at 8am the following day, unless additional time is purchased."
