India's women’s blind cricket team made history by winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final held in Colombo. After winning the toss, India opted to field first and successfully restricted Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. The Indian batting lineup then executed a precise chase, reaching the target in just 12.1 overs with 47 balls to spare. Khula Sharir was the standout player, scoring an impressive 44 runs off 27 balls, which included four boundaries, leading India to a comfortable win.
This triumph comes shortly after the Indian women’s team defeated South Africa in Navi Mumbai, highlighting the growing prominence of women’s cricket in India, both in mainstream and visually impaired categories. In the semi-final, India secured a decisive nine-wicket victory against Australia, while Nepal advanced to the final by narrowly defeating Pakistan.
The T20 tournament featured six teams: India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the USA. It began on November 11 in New Delhi, with matches later held in Bengaluru before moving to Colombo for the knockout rounds.
India's journey to the title included victories over Sri Lanka by 10 wickets, Australia by 209 runs, Nepal by 85 runs, the USA by 10 wickets, and Pakistan by 8 wickets.
