The air and the atmosphere in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra were filled with a feeling of deep sorrow and anguish on Sunday as Air Force Wing Commander Afshan paid her last respects to her husband, Wing Commander Namash Shyal, who was killed in the Tejas fighter aircraft crash in Dubai on Friday.
Hundreds of locals had arrived to have one final glimpse of the fighter pilot and pay tributes to Wing Commander Syal in his native village in Kangra where his mortal remains were kept in a garlanded coffin.
But the atmosphere turned even gloomier and emotional as an inconsolable Wing Commander Afshan, with tears profusely rolling down her eyes, stepped forward to pay final salutations to her husband.
