CONWAY -- The University of Central Arkansas football team had little to play for other than pride in its season finale.
UCA entered Saturday's matchup with Abilene Christian weeks removed from any chance at a spot in the FCS playoffs, but it had the opportunity to play spoiler against a Wildcat team ranked No. 17 in the FCS top 25 and needing a win to secure its place.
At halftime, it appeared the Bears had one last gasp in them -- led by sophomore quarterback Caleb Koger, making his first start of the season, they led the Wildcats 21-13.
In the span of eight minutes in the third quarter, UCA's lead turned into a seemingly insurmountable deficit. Abilene Christian went on to win 49-28 at Estes Stadium, cementing its spot in the postseason as the United Athletic Conference champion.
