Actor Huma Qureshi has opened up about the growing issue of online abuse faced by women, arguing that digital harassment deserves the same legal weight as harassment in public spaces. Speaking during a recent conversation, she said the internet cannot continue being treated as a consequence-free space for inappropriate behaviour.

Sharing her own experience with unsolicited and offensive messages, Qureshi recalled, “There are comments like, ‘post a picture in a bikini,’ and I’m like – kya kar rahe ho boss ? It’s disgusting. It’s sad.”

While speaking to The Male Feminist , she also emphasised that cyber harassment is not a “milder” version of misconduct just because it happens online.
