PITTSBURGH —

From tree lightings to bridge lightings and fireworks, the magic of Light Up Night returned to downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday.

“3, 2, 1, light it up!” the crowd cheered.

Two other major tree lightings helped kick off the night: the City-County Building tree and the American Cancer Society tree at the PPG Plaza ice rink.

That tree was lit by 10-year-old cancer survivor Braelyn Gordon, a fifth-grade student at Canon-McMillan in Canonsburg.

“Happy, because it only happens once a year and I was picked this year,” Gordon said.

Despite construction around Market Square, thousands of people packed the streets to take in the festivities.
