A man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault which took place last week.

A 38-year-old man was arrested today (Sunday, November 23) on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds police station for questioning, where he currently remains.

The woman, aged in her 30s was sexually assaulted on Wednesday, November 19 , between 5.45am and 6am when she was approached by an unknown man, pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted.

The assault happened along a pathway off Iliffe Way in Stowmarket.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Adams said: “It’s still very early in our investigation and we continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact us.
