MARION, Ala. —
Marion city officials released details regarding widespread water service disruptions, citing two simultaneous critical issues within the water system that have left residents with low water pressure or dry taps.
According to a statement from the City of Marion, the water department is currently battling a major pump and filtration system failure alongside a significant leak in the distribution system.
Officials identified the failure of a primary pump—essential for moving water from treatment facilities into the city’s distribution lines—as a key cause of the outage. Due to the extent of the damage, the pump and a portion of the filtration system were removed and sent to an external certified professional repair agency.
