Marks and Spencer has unveiled ambitious plans to significantly increase its presence across the UK. The high street giant is eyeing up 500 potential locations nationwide, with a view to opening new stores and doubling the size of its food business.

The proposed sites for new food stores extend beyond London, and could include Falmouth in Cornwall, Scarborough, St Andrews and Lancaster.

Each of the new shops would feature wider aisles to accommodate larger shopping trolleys, as well as more spacious car parks for family shoppers, according to The Times. It's anticipated that over half of Marks and Spencer's existing stores will have been refurbished by April 2028, reports the Mirror .
