CLEMSON — The biggest mistake from Clemson’s 45-10 win over Furman probably wasn’t a play call or botched execution.
It was a mixup in personnel that allowed first-string edge rusher Jahiem Lawson to remain on the field midway through the third quarter against an FCS team and then sprain an ankle that might force him to miss an upcoming game with rival South Carolina.
“I wish he wasn't in. It was a package. I thought we had everybody out, honestly,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “But that's a package where he's inside (at defensive tackle). That’s on me, 100 percent. He shouldn’t have been in there.”
