CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the heart of Ohio City, a literary-themed taproom beloved for its cozy vibe, obscure small-batch beers, and bookish charm is raising one final glass. Bookhouse Brewing announced it will close its doors by the end of 2025 .
While 2025 numbers aren’t available, Ohio saw 46 craft breweries open in 2024 compared to 35 that closed, bringing the total to 442 throughout the state, according to the Ohio Craft Brewers Association .
Those breweries churned out 1.15 million barrels of beer and combined to contribute $1.29 billion to the economy, the organization said.
But as it has been for many U.S. microbreweries, this past year ha been particularly tough for Bookhouse, which started up in 2018.
