EVANSVILLE – The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office has identified the man shot and killed by Evansville police Saturday night as a 58-year-old city resident.
Everett Nunn was shot and killed after officers were dispatched to a home on East Louisiana Street just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday when a woman called 911 and said her son and husband were about to fight.
When police arrived, she reportedly told them there was a gun in the home, EPD spokesman Sgt. Anthony Aussieker wrote in a news release.
"The officer then confronted a male subject who had what appeared to be a gun pointed in their direction," the release states. "The officer gave commands to put the gun down before discharging his service weapon at the male subject."
Nunn was taken to Deaconess Hospital, where he later died.
