The New York City Council will soon vote on granting itself and other elected officials a pay raise, according to a report from the Daily News .
Before the end of the year, the city’s legislators will introduce a bill meant to enact pay increases for themselves along with the mayor, public advocate, council speaker, comptroller and borough presidents, the Daily News reports.
The raise could mirror a 16% cost of living increase that municipal workers received earlier this year, according to the outlet.
The vote would likely have to come on Dec. 18, the council’s last scheduled meeting for the year, according to the Daily News.
It is unclear, however, if Mayor Eric Adams would sign the bill should it be passed by the council, the Daily News reports.
