A man has been charged with arson following three house fires in Ashby, Leicestershire.

Emergency services were called to fires on Holywell Avenue at 7.05am, Prestop Drive at 7.08am and Clifton Drive at 7.19am on Friday. Two teenagers and a woman were taken to hospital with burn injuries and smoke inhalation. Their injuries were described as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Friday and taken into custody. He has been charged with dangerous driving and three counts of arson with intent to endanger life, Leicestershire Police said today.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday.
