AMHERST, NY — A new federal court case involves the arrest of a couple who federal agents say ran a Michigan-based plumbing company which used hundreds of undocumented employees in Western New York and elsewhere.

Prosecutors say that the couple made millions of dollars while using these workers who were not authorized to be here in the United States.

2 On Your Side got more information from the criminal complaint and spoke with a local construction labor leader who has seen this type of alleged activity before.

74 million dollars. That is the sum that prosecutors in the criminal complaint say 36 year old Moises Orduna-Rios and 30 year old Raquel Orduna-Rios made from 2022 to August 2025 through their suburban Detroit, Michigan based plumbing contractor firm called Orduna Plumbing.
