MONROE — A free two-weekend apprenticeship readiness program is being offered in December at Monroe County Community College for people interested in entering skilled trades.

The program runs Fridays and Saturdays over two weekends. Students must attend all four sessions to be eligible for a certificate of completion, credits, and a tool set, college officials said. Courses in this session of the trades program includes classroom instruction and hands-on lab activities in trade math, OSHA 10 safety, machining, electrical, and welding, a release from the college said.

Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 12-13 in the college’s Career Technology Center, Room T-154, at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd., Monroe.

Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and cannot
