Allen County law enforcement officers were investigating a weekend accident that left one male dead and two others injured on State Road 1 north of Union Chapel Road.

The accident occurred just after 3:45 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the county sheriff's department.

Upon arrival, officers and medics located three northbound vehicles, a silver Hyundai SUV, a silver Chevrolet SUV, and a black Kia SUV, involved in rear-end collisions on State Road 1.

The preliminary investigation indicated the black SUV and silver Chevrolet SUV were stopped in traffic on State Road 1. The Silver Hyundai SUV rear-ended the silver Chevrolet SUV, causing the silver Chevrolet SUV to rear-end the black SUV, the release said.
