ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers are reportedly finalizing a trade involving Marcus Semien.
According to ESPN's MLB Insider Jeff Passan, Semien could be traded to the New York Mets for outfielder Brandon Nimmo.
Marcus Semien joined the Rangers in December 2021 on a seven-year, $175 million deal, becoming a cornerstone of the club’s effort to rebuild into a contender. Semien led MLB in plate appearances in each of his first two seasons with the Rangers, played all 162 games in 2023, and helped anchor the lineup during the franchise’s first World Series championship run. That year, he hit .276 with 122 runs scored and earned a Silver Slugger while serving as the team’s everyday leadoff hitter and second baseman.
