A three-day congregation began at the Red Fort complex on Sunday to mark the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom — the first major event being held at the monument since a blast near it on November 10 claimed at least 12 lives. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life stands as an enduring example of courage against oppression, intolerance and injustice.”
The event, jointly organised by the Delhi government and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, saw thousands of devotees from India and abroad participating as the commemorations opened with kirtan and other ceremonies.
The Chief Minister said this is the first time an event of this scale is being held in Delhi to mark the anniversary of the Guru’s martyrdom.
