JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The Jacksonville Beach lifeguard season is over, but every holiday season, the chairs they use to survey the beach serve the community in a different way.
Rather than Christmas trees, participants in this year's Deck the Chairs are putting the final lights and decorations on nearly 70 borrowed lifeguard chairs, which will sit on display for six weeks for the community to vote on.
This is the free event's 13th year lighting up Jacksonville Beach. Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 26, visitors will get to experience a lot more than just a pretty light display at Latham Plaza and the Seawalk Pavilion.
On the agenda this year is a special performance of The Nutcracker, two Christmas arts markets featuring local vendors, Christmas Eve service, and a pep rally ahead o
