A much loved actress who appeared in Love Actually and numerous other productions has died. Tributes have poured in for Jill Freud, whose remarkable life spanned 98 years sustained by her daily ritual of red wine and crisps for lunch, alongside morning tap-dancing sessions she continued throughout lockdown.
Sent away to Oxford during her childhood, Jill resided with Chronicles of Narnia writer CS Lewis and became the muse for Lucy in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Following two years with the Lewis household, she departed to chase her theatrical dreams, with her final performance being the Downing Street housekeeper in Love Actually.
