CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) held an emergency vote on whether or not to allow athletes to make money by selling their name, image, or likeness (NIL).

Announced today, the Bylaw was approved and beginning in November of 2025 Ohio high school student athletes can be compensated.

The vote was 447 schools in favor of the referendum and 121 schools voting against, while 247 schools abstained from voting.

The reason for the needed vote was forced because of a lawsuit filed by the family of Huber Heights high school junior, and Ohio State commit, Jamier Brown.

The lawsuit claims Brown is being kept from making money by selling his NIL rights to companies and sponsors.
