A Brooklyn company is recalling a popular kitchen pan sold across the Northeast after federal inspectors found it could leach harmful levels of lead into food.

Shata Traders Inc., based in Brooklyn, N.Y., issued a recall for its Chef Brand Milk Pan 24 cm after testing revealed “significant levels” of leachable lead, the recall states .

Lead is toxic to people of all ages and according to the FDA , there is no safe level of exposure.

The recalled pans were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts. They are packaged 6 pieces per box, but retailers sell the pans individually.

No illnesses have been reported.
