Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children, however, child safety seats can provide maximum protection for children in the event of a car accident, says the Louisiana State Police.
Use of a child safety seat can reduce the risk of injury for infants and toddlers by 71% to 82%, and booster seats reduce the risk for serious injury by 45% for children ages four to eight, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association.
