Liverpool's famous 18ft Father Christmas is back on display. Opened in 1908, Blacklers was once one of Liverpool's most famous shopping names. Once described as "Liverpool's answer to New York's Macy's," it was one of the biggest department stores in the country and employed almost 1,000 staff - including a young George Harrison.

Founded by business partners Richard John Blackler and A.B. Wallis at the turn of the 20th century, it was located on Great Charlotte Street in Liverpool city centre .

Set across six floors, the store was loved by shoppers across the region, before eventually closing its doors for good in 1988.

The site later became a branch of pub-chain Wetherspoons name
