A warning has been issued about the potential plans to freeze income tax thresholds at the budget on Wednesday - with people on the minimum wage set to pay £759 extra. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to extend the freeze on income tax thresholds in her budget on Wednesday in a move that would raise at least £50 billion a year by the end of the decade.
These have been kept the same by successive governments since 2021, leading to millions being caught up in ‘fiscal drag’ meaning they’re paying a lot more tax as a result.
