Monday's meeting of Weyburn City Council included a variety of discussions surrounding important community topics. It was also the first meeting attended by newly elected Youth Mayor Harper Williams.

The meeting began with a conversation about the creation of a Recreation Facilities Tax Levy Bylaw. The funds collected through this tax levy would be designated for use in maintaining, renovating, expanding, or establishing recreational facilities.

A motion was made to introduce the levy with a phased in approach, where 2026 would see a rate of $100 per door, that would be increased in 2027 to $150, and increased again in 2028 to $200.
