Laying in a hospital bed as sick as he’d been since being diagnosed with terminal cancer five weeks earlier, Ronnie Della Morte didn’t want his youngest son, Nate, sitting in the room with him.

“Go to practice,” he whispered, only because he couldn’t raise his voice any louder. “I want you to go.”

Football is an important part of Nate Della Morte’s life and no one knew that more than Ronnie. Football was always about family and now, after his father’s passing, it means even more to the Johnston High School senior than ever before.
