Teachers at Providence’s Highlander Charter School took a drastic step in labor negotiations when they launched a two-day strike on Nov. 24, shutting down all classes at the elementary school.
The teachers voted to unionize a year ago, citing low wages as one of the leading reasons, and joined the Cranston-based International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2323, rather than a traditional teachers union.
