It's not uncommon for the UFC to simply move on unbothered whenever brawls break out cageside at its events, but what happened at UFC 322 might not go away so easily. That's because New York City mayor Eric Adams has vowed to do something about it.
On Monday, Adams took to X to share video of the massive brawl involving former Bellator fighter Dillon Danis and members of Khabib Nurmagomedov's team on Nov. 15 while issuing a stern statement.
"These assaults at Madison Square Garden are completely unacceptable," Adams wrote. "The NYPD (New York Police Department) is already conducting a full investigation, and everyone responsible will be held accountable."
As of now, only one person involved has faced any type of responsibility – Danis. While taking blame for what happened, UFC CEO Dana White told reporters after UFC 322 that Danis would be banned from attending UFC events.
"I blame myself for (the brawl) actually," White said. "They came back and told me right before I walked out for the main card that Dillon Danis was here, and he was moving around sitting in fighters' seats and not sitting in his own seat that he had. He had a ticket. They said, 'Do you want us to throw him out of here?' I said, 'He has a ticket?' They said, 'Yeah.' They told me, '(Jorge) Masvidal said he's going to f*ck him up on site.' I said, 'Well, where's Masvidal sitting?' He said, 'Oh, well he's six or seven rows away from Masvidal.' I said, 'If the guy has a ticket, let him sit in his seat and let him do what he's doing and keep an eye on him.' ...
"It didn't even cross my mind, as stupid as this could be, that the entire Muslim Brotherhood was here tonight in the first five rows for Islam (Makhachev). As soon as it broke out, I was on the other side, and I go, 'F*ck, I know exactly what that is.' I knew it. You will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight ever again."
White said there would be no charges pressed against Danis or anyone involved, but with Adams now taking an interest by having the NYPD open a case, it appears that could soon change.
