Coweta Fire Rescue has rolled out a new Heavy Rescue Truck designed to enhance emergency response across the county.

The vehicle was purchased with Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds and replaces a unit that served the department for more than 15 years, according to Fire Chief Robby Flanagan.

“The Heavy Rescue is truly a rolling toolbox, equipped to handle any incident that comes our way,” Flanagan said.

Unlike other trucks in the department’s fleet, the Heavy Rescue does not carry water, allowing for maximum tool and equipment capacity.

It responds countywide to residential and commercial structure fires, motor vehicle crashes, and a range of technical rescue situations, including rope rescues, confined space incidents, water rescues, trench rescues and structural collapses.
