CRANSTON — The old cliché is that defense wins championships, and Narragansett didn’t do much to disprove that.
The Mariners might be known for their quirky offensive sets but Saturday’s 21-8 victory over defending champion Davies in the Division IV Super Bowl was powered by keeping a team out of the end zone rather than an offense trying to score. They set a tone early and finished late, and walked out of Cranston Stadium with a trophy one year in the making.
