NORTH CHARLESTON — While on a trip to Utah for a city-related conference, a North Charleston councilman reported to police he was allegedly assaulted while at a local bar.
City spokesman Tony Tassarotti said Councilmembers Nefertiti Brown, Michael Brown Jr. and Rhonda Jerome attended the National League of Cities City Summit conference in Salt Lake City from Nov. 20 to 22. The conference is for local elected officials and city staff across the country, according to its website.
Close to midnight on Nov. 21, Michael Brown, who represents District 7, called in a report of an assault, said Salt Lake City Police Department Sgt. Gregory Wilkin. Brown reported he was struck in the groin and face area while at a local bar called Lake Effect.
