City school board members have approved an updated, less-restrictive dress code for Manchester School District staff, despite calls by some officials to hold off for additional input from school principals and other administrators.

The policy, Personnel 203: Dress Code for all Manchester School District Staff, was last updated in 2011. The changes were proposed by outgoing school board member and new alderman-elect for Ward 6 Jason Bonilla.

“I have no intentions of tabling this — it's been 14 years,” Bonilla said. “This was brought by teachers, educators on the ground. As a district, we all have different interpretations on what we deem professional. We are the best district in the state of New Hampshire, and they should be able to wear what they want.
