OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The man accused of shooting at a northwest Omaha movie theater in May has changed his plea during a court appearance on Tuesday.
Rashaun Carodine , 20, has now pleaded no contest to a charge of 2nd degree assault (changed from 1st degree assault).
The maximum sentence he now faces is 20 years rather than 50 years.
According to court documents, surveillance footage shows Carodine in the lobby of the movie theater, allegedly observing the victim.
Carodine then left the theater and returned to the theater’s parking lot about 45 minutes later.
As the victim and his girlfriend were leaving the theater, a man ran up to them and fired shots at them and ran off. A police report indicated the victim was hit in the leg.
