Workers at an east Hamilton business had to evacuate a building Tuesday after an accidental mix of various chemicals.
Hamilton firefighters remained at 20 Morley St. through the afternoon to ventilate the building. There was no expected hazard to staff or the public, said Steve Welton, assistant deputy fire chief.
Crews responded to the business just before 1 p.m. after workers inside detected a chemical odour.
Welton said the smell is believed to have come from an accidental mixture of various cleaning chemicals. He said there had been some cleaning going on prior to the detection of the odour.
Staff were temporarily evacuated from the building out of an abundance of caution as crews assessed the environment inside.
